This is the first photo for my 2018 365 Project, one photo each day for the year. I've attempted these projects in the past, and for one reason or another, never saw one to completion. I'm hoping this year will be different. I'm not going to use prompts or a rigid photo topic for this project, but I am going to try to take photos that challenge me. I mean, the whole idea behind taking a photo each day of the year is to make one a better photographer.
For the first photo of this project, I decided to do a self portrait. As I seldom do portraits of anyone, and am much more comfortable behind the camera than in front of it, this was especially challenging for me.
I took this photo using a tripod-mounted Sony a6000 camera mated to a Minolta MD ROKKOR-X 50mm f1:1.7 lens by way of a K&F MD-NEX adapter. I shot this photo at an ISO of 100, and a 1/8 second exposure at f2.8. I was fortunate enough to have a dark room to use. I held a light just off camera and played with the lighting angle until I got a shot I was happy with.
